The "Information Blackout" in Loudoun County just hit a major federal and state roadblock.

Earlier today, I reported that the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and FOIA Coordinator Maryellen Clarke attempted to "toll" my investigation into the December 12 "Warning Call." Despite my providing Virginia tax records and vehicle registrations, LCSO claimed they could not "verify" my residency—a move made less than 24 hours after I exposed the "Tripartite Nexus" of collusion on this blog.

Breaking News: The State Steps In I can now confirm that the Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council has formally accepted my request for a written Advisory Opinion. My challenge to LCSO’s gatekeeping is now officially Opinion Request #23.

The Council’s decision to move to a formal written opinion is a significant victory for transparency. It signals that the state’s highest FOIA authority recognizes the potential illegality of an agency rejecting government-issued tax records to block a whistleblower.

The Journalists' Shield Central to this state review is Va. Code § 2.2-3704(A), which explicitly waives residency requirements for representatives of the news media. By attempting to block a journalist who is actively broadcasting into the Commonwealth, LCSO hasn't just blocked a father; they have triggered a state-level review of their compliance with the First Amendment.

Loudoun officials often act as if they are only accountable to their own "fiefdoms." Today, the Commonwealth of Richmond reminded them that the law applies even in Ashburn.

The story discussed the fact that Principal Nick Cottone of Seneca Ridge Middle School had activated his School Resource Officer to have a special education teacher arrested under suspicion that she was drunk.
